The simple 180 degree Pan and Tilt |
Introduction
This project started with the first RunCam Split (v1) which I bought to replace my Mobius with something more current and a little smaller. The first parts I did made up the v1 Pan and Tilt (shown above) which would bolt directly to my previous Pan and Tilts. After flying this for a bit, I decided I needed a case version I could easily move from plane to plane so I came up with several versions of the case.
I am only showing one version of the Pan and Tilt and one version of the simple case. For more parts including compatability information please see these two parts catalogs:
Pan and Tilt
The Pan and tilt has an "open" frame to allow cooling air to circulate around and through the PCB. There are two sizes of servo plates available, one to accomodate my canopy mounts and a larger one to accomodate a common plywood or flat deck.

Servo Selection:
Pan Servo - For this non-geared Pan and Tilt I selected the Turnigy™ TGY-180D 180 degree Digital Servo from HobbyKing. It is important to use a digital if you are also using a VTX of 600mw or more to avoid the noise these components can produce in the servo.
Tilt Servo - Many of the current 9-12 gram servos will fit the tilt plate. A Corona DS929MG is what I use.
RunCam Split Case
The case I am showing here is very simple. It is three parts for the v1 Split and two parts for the v2. It has an open frame so that air will circulate around the PCB. It uses the stock short camera module cable.
